Political sources noted that a few more government ministers are scheduled to be sworn-in this evening.

It is reported that several MPs representing the UNP and the TNA are expected to take oaths, accordingly.

Further, A.H.M. Fowzie was sworn-in as the State Minister of National Unity, Co-existence and Muslim Religious Affairs this morning.

The President’s Media Division noted that the State Minister was sworn-in before President Maithripala Sirisena at the President’s Official Residence.

Accordingly, 15 cabinet ministers of the new government along with 8 state ministers and 8 deputy ministers have been sworn-in thus far.

According to the 19th constitutional amendment, except for a national unity government, the number of ministers in the cabinet of ministers should not exceed 30.

Additionally, the total number of deputy ministers and ministers who are not in the cabinet of ministers should not exceed 40.

Accordingly, the government has the possibility to appoint 15 more cabinet ministers along with 24 state and deputy ministers.
