Police have provided additional protection to two houses of UNP MP Ashoka Priyantha after he was sworn-in as a deputy minister of the new government.

A spokesman from the Marawila police stated that this action was taken after a group of drunkards behaved unruly at the deputy minister’s residence at Maranda in Naththandiya yesterday evening.

Puttalam district MP Ashoka Priyantha was sworn-in as the cultural, internal affairs and Wayamba development deputy minister of the new government yesterday.

The spokesman also said that similar protection has been provided to the deputy minister’s residence on Weediyabandara Street in Naththandiya.
