21 Cabinet ministers, 15 State and 8 deputy ministers take the oaths

The number of Cabinet ministers rose to 21 including the 7 who were sworn-in to their new posts today.

In addition, 15 State ministers and 9 deputy ministers have also taken oaths.

The number of Cabinet members should be limited to 30 under the 19th Amendment when the existing government is not a national government.

In addition, the number of State and Deputy Ministers in such a government should be limited to 40.

MP Susil Premajayantha and Bandula Gunawardana were sworn-in as Public Administration, Home Affairs and Justice Minister and, International Trade and Investment Promotion Minister respectively.

SM Chandrasena took oaths as the State Minister of Social Empowerment while Salinda Dissanayake as State Minister of Indigenous medicine.

CB Rathnayake was appointed as the State Transport Minister and Lakshman Wasantha Perera was appointed as the State Minister of International Trade and Investment Promotion while Anura Priyadarshana Yapa is now the State Minister of Finance.

Meanwhile, the Highways and Road Development Minister SB Dissanayake who has been appointed as the government chief whip is scheduled to assume duties from tomorrow.
