The Locomotive Engine Operators’ Union requests that legal action be taken against the passengers who were reprimanded by an engine driver after they attempted to enter the engine.

The Secretary of the Union, Indika Dodamgoda stated that they will resort to trade union action if necessary measures are not taken in this regard.

The engine driver who reprimanded the passengers has temporarily been suspended from work.

However, the Secretary of the Locomotive Engine Operators’ Union, Indika Dodangoda urged that legal action be taken against the said passengers as it is prohibited for passengers to enter train engines.

In response to an inquiry made by our news team, the General Manager of Sri Lanka Railways stated that an investigation in this regard is underway.
