Government says that the parliament was dissolved as the speaker was not independent

The General Secretary of the UPFA, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera stated that the parliament had to be dissolved as the speaker was not being independent.

Minister Amaraweera made this statement subsequent to paying courtesy calls on the chief prelates of the Malwathu and Asgiri chapters today.

The Chief Prelate of the Asgiri Chapter, Most Venerable Warakagoda Gnanarathana Thera stated that dissolving the parliament is a much better move than the problematic situation that was prevailing.
