President Maithripala Sirisena has informed MPs representing all the parties of the UNF regarding removing clause number one of the motion submitted to parliament, re-submission of it in parliament today, and to hold the vote by name.

A special discussion between UNF political parties and  TNA  representatives was held last afternoon at the presidential secretariat.

The presidential Media Division said that  the discussion had been held for about two hours.

At the discussion leaders of these parties had said also that they had the majority and requested the President to accept it.

On this occasion the president had said that he always acts according to the constitution, and respects it.

The president informed that accordingly steps be taken to remove clause number one of the motion moved in parliament day-before-yesterday, and to re-submit it today.

 The clause number one of the motion the JVP moved in parliament day-before-yesterday was to the effect that the very special gazette notifications bearing number 2094/43, 2094/43 A and 2094/44 the President had published on 26 October, and the orders contained in them, and the appointments concerned were  contravened the constitution and null and null and void before law, powerless and bereft of any binding authority or validity.

Through very special gazette notification bearing number 2094/43 the president had announced that he was removing Ranil Wickremesinghe who had been appointed as prime minister from the post of prime minister under the powers vested in him.

Similarly President Maithripala Sirisena informed through very special gazette 2094/43 A that he had dissolved the cabinet according to powers vested on him.

In addition the President informed through gazette number 2094/44 that he had appointed MP Mahinda Rajapaksa to the post of Prime Minister.

 Accordingly the President informed at the discussion held yesterday that he was requesting all sections represented in parliament to consider these matters and act according the democracy and standing orders and ensure peace in parliament.
