The appointment of members from different political parties to the parliament select committee has currently become disputable.

The Government faction claims that it needs the majority representation in the committee.

The Opposition also made an equal claim as it has the majority of 122 parliamentary seats.

A select committee comprises 12 members including the speaker.

The political party meeting decided yesterday that the select committee should be appointed with immediate effect.

Accordingly, the Deputy speaker announced yesterday in parliament that select committee members should be nominated immediately.

Meanwhile, Minister, SB Dissanayake told our news team that the government will hand over the name list of its select committee members to the parliament secretary general tomorrow.

In the meantime, a former minister, Lakshman Kiriella said that the majority of the select committees should be granted to the Opposition led by UNP.

Meanwhile, JVP Parliamentarian Bimal Ratnayaka said that they hope to submit their name list tomorrow.
