A seven-member panel of Supreme Court judges has been appointed to hear the petitions which challenged the gazette issued by the President to dissolve parliament.

The Chief Justice Nalin Perera will chair the seven-judge panel.

Other members of the bench are Justices Buwaneka Aluvihare, Sisira Abrew, Priyantha Jayawardana, Prasanna Jayawardana, Vijith Malalgoda and Moordu Fernando.

The petitions have been filed by several political parties and civil society organizations.

Earlier, the Supreme Court issued an interim injunction preventing the dissolution of parliament until December 7th.

The petitions will be considered on December 4, 5 and 6.

The Supreme Court decided to hear the petitions by a full bench after the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna filed a petition requesting to intervene in the previous petitions.
