The motion to suspend expenditures of the Prime Minister’s office passed

The proposal submitted to parliament stating that the prime ministers secretary does not have the authority to approve expending state funds, passed with a majority in parliament today.

101 MPs of the United national front, 13 MPs of the TNA, 06 MPs from the JVP and 3 UPFA MPs voted in favour of the motion.

However, even though the ruling party boycotted parliament today, minister Dr. Wijedasa Rajapaksa was present during the session.

A ruling party MPs meeting was held at the parliamentary complex under the patronage of prime minister Mahinda Rajapaksa at 10.30 am today.

During the meeting it was decided that the ruling party would boycott the parliamentary session today as well.

The motion to suspend expenditures of the Prime Minister’s office was passed in parliament with 123 voting in favour.

The UNF, TNA and the JVP have voted in favour.

Subsequently Speaker Karu Jayasuriya adjourned parliament until 10.30 am tomorrow.
