Mahinda Rajapaksa says that he will file an appeal before the Supreme Court against the interim order issued by the Appeals Court.

The Court of Appeal yesterday issued an interim order preventing Mahinda Rajapaksa from functioning as the prime minister and all other ministers functioning in their portfolios until the Quo Warrantor writ against them is heard on December 12th.

The Quo Warrantor Writ was filed challenging that the Mahinda Rajapaksa and his cabinet has no authority to hold office.

122 MPs including former prime minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe filed the Quo Warrantor writ against the government on November 23.

It was considered by the chairman of the Court of Appeal Prithi Padman Surasena and Justice Arjun Obeseykera to send notices to all the respondents including the prime minister and his cabinet of ministers.
