The strike carried out by estate workers demanding a 1,000 Rupee daily wage is continuing for the 5th day today.

However, the Ceylon Workers Congress and Ceylon National Estate Workers Union are reportedly holding conflicting views regarding the strike.

General Secretary of the Ceylon National Estate Workers Union Parliamentarian Wadiwel Suresh said that by going on strike in December workers would face financial difficulties next month, where they will be celebrating Thai Pongal.

However, Deputy Chairman of the Ceylon Workers Congress Arul Saami said that they will continue their strike until demands are met.
