The Examination Commissioner General, Sanath Pujitha says that he would initiate an investigation into the delay in distributing GCE O/L examination papers at two centres at Ampara today.

It was reported that 300 GCE Ordinary level examination candidates at the Ampara Bandaranayake Girls’ School and the DS Senanayake National School were served their question papers on Aesthetic studies, one hour and forty-five minutes after the scheduled start time this morning.

The two examination centres had not received a sufficient number of question papers for Drawing, Music, Dancing and Appreciation of Sinhala Literature.

Director of the Zonal office, Wimalasena Maddumaarachchi told our news team that 300 papers had inadvertently been transported to Moneragala.

He said the papers were received and distributed among the candidates later.

Meanwhile, the Department of Examination issued a severe warning on GCE Ordinary Level examination candidates that it will mete out severe punishments on those who behave in an unruly manner after the examination concludes tomorrow.

Punishments will also be meted out on others who cause damage to public property.

The Department further said that police have already deployed personnel around examination centres and, the examination supervisors have also been educated on the matter.
