Lanka Teachers Union filed a petition with the Human Rights Commission against Western Provincial council chief minister Isura Devapriya this morning.

The petition states that the Chief Minister has instructed education authorities to enrol students to popular schools for the coming year by violating the Circulars.

Responding to allegations, chief minister Devapriya told our news team that he is compelled to complain to the Human Rights Commission on behalf of the students who are deprived of opportunities due to such Circulars.

Meanwhile, The Joint Unemployment Graduates Union protested to a statement made by UNP National Organizer Navin Dissanayake on December 17th.

Dissanayake allegedly told that only his party supporters will be given employment within the next six months.

Addressing a media conference in Colombo, Joint Unemployment Graduates Union’s convener, Thanne Gnanananda Thera said that his organization will launch a struggle against such a move if implemented.
