The new cabinet is scheduled to be sworn in today.

In response to an enquiry by oiur news team, several government MPs confirmed that the new cabinet is scheduled to be sworn before the president  at 8.30 this morning at the presidential secretariat.

The UNF list for Ministry posts had been submitted to the President yesterday.

at the UNF MPs’ meeting on Tuesday , prior to preparing the list, former ministers Malik Samarawickreme and Mano Ganeshan had expressed their willingness to not accept ministry posts.

former minister Rishard  Badiudin also agreed to consider not accepting a ministry post.

Meanwhile an emergency meeting was held between the President and the Prime Minister last night regarding the group of persons to be granted ministry posts.

Reports say that MPs Ranjith Maddumabandara, Rajitha Senarathna and Naveen Dissanayaka also participated in this discussion held at the president’s official residence.

Former minister MP Ranjith Madduma Bandara who participated in the discussion,  said that a consensus had been reached regarding the cabinet .

during a meeting of the United Peoples Freedom Alliance Parliamentary group last evening, Parliamentarians Nishantha Mutuhettigama and Gamini Lokuge confirmed the President had said the new Cabinet of Ministers would be sworn in this morning.
