The Disaster Management Centre noted that 9,161 individuals in 9 Divisional Secretariat divisions have been affected by the inclement weather prevailing in Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu districts.

Meanwhile, the MET department noted that heavy showers prevailing in the Northern Province can be expected to gradually recede from tomorrow.

Its Director General, Athula Karunanayake state that the inclement weather was resulted by a turbulence prevailing in the lower atmosphere located closer to the island.  

The highest rainfall of 365.1 mm recorded during the 24 hours that ended at 8.30 this morning was reported from Mankulam area.   

Floods were reported following the heavy rainfall received last night in Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu districts.

The Irrigation Department noted that all spill gates of the Iranamadu Reservoir have been opened as its water level has risen to 38 feet.
