The Disaster Management Centre noted that over 60 thousand individuals have been impacted by the inclement weather prevailing in the Northern Province.

Spill gates of Raajaganaya, Angamuwa, Iranamadu and Deduru-Oya reservoirs continue to be kept open.

Meanwhile, a special meeting is currently under way where Kilinochchi, Mulathiv district secretaries and all government officials are discussing the adverse weather situation.

The met department states that intermittent showers will occur in Northern, Eastern and North-central provinces.

Showers or thunderstorms will occur in other areas after 2.00p.m.

Fairly heavy rainfall, around 75 mili meters can be expected in Central, Sabaragamuwa and Western provinces.
