In parallel to the decrease in fuel prices, private as well as SLTB, luxury and highway bus fares are to be reduced by 4.2% from midnight.

However, there will be no revision made to the minimum bus fare.

The revised bus fare schedule has been issued by the national transport commission.

Accordingly, the minimum bus fare continues to stand at 12 rupees while bus fares ranging from 15 rupees to 29 rupees will be reduced by 1 rupee.

The revised bus fare of the southern expressway has also been announced and accordingly the fare from Maharagama to Galle will be 440 rupees, while Maharagama to Matara would be 550 rupees, and the Kaduwela to Matara fare is to be revised as 570 rupees and Colombo to Tangalle would be 720 rupees.

The NTC also noted that in addition the bus fares from Matara to Negombo have been revised to 740 rupees, while Colombo to Galle has also been revised to 500 rupees.

Further fares from Colombo to Matara have been revised to 580 rupees.

In addition, Kottawa to Galle has been amended to 420 rupees, while Kaduwela to Galle has been revised as 480 rupees, Kadawatha to Matara revised to 590 rupees and Kaduwela to Galle has been revised to 460 rupees.

Meanwhile, the three-wheeler trade union associations have decided to reduce the first-kilometre fare by 10 rupees from midnight.
