The Railway unions have decided to suspend the proposed two-day token strike they planned to launch earlier effective midnight today.

The unions wanted to launch the strike in protest of not implementing the Circular to settle salary anomalies even though it has been approved by the Cabinet.

President of railway controllers union Lal Ariyarathna stated that the unions agreed to suspend the trade union action after subject minister Arjuna Ranatunga pledged to solve the issue within a month.
