Corn plants that were infested with Fall Army Worms have been suspended from being transported as animal feed to the Bopaththalawa Government Farm, following the intervention of its General Manager.

The Department of Agriculture had instructed to destroy corn crops at a government farm in Kurunegala as the plants have been infested with Fall Army Worms.

It is reported that the plants were thus prepared to be transported to Bopaththala government farm.

It is also reported that tea and vegetable plantations in the upcountry can also be affected by using Fall Army Worm infested corn as animal feed.

The Department of Agriculture has already commenced an investigation into the matter.
