The Government has decided to appoint a special committee to study the Cabinet papers before they are presented by the respective ministers.

Minister of Budhasasana and Wayamba Development Gamini Jayawickrama Perera said the members of the ruling coalition parties will be appointed as members of the committee, while it is chaired by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

He further said that the aim of this new committee is to prevent clashes with the President and implement crucial cabinet papers without delay.

The maiden Cabinet meeting for 2019 has been scheduled to be held under the patronage of the President at the Presidential Secretariat on Wednesday.
