The owner of Perpetual Treasuries Arjun Aloysius and his CEO Kasun Palisena who were in remand in connection with the Central Bank Bond scam were granted bail today.

When the two suspects were produced before Court, Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayarathna released them on a one million rupees cash bail and 4 surety bails of 2 million rupees each.

In addition, the magistrate banned the suspects from leaving the country and ordered them to report to the CID every Sunday.

The Magistrate has stated that the completion of the investigation into the Central Bank bond scam is indefinite as the main suspect of the Case Arjuna Mahendran is still at large.

Therefore, she rejected the written objections submitted by the Attorney General against granting bail for Arjun Aloysius and Kasun Palisena.

She is of the opinion that keeping the two suspects further in remand in such a backdrop is not justifiable.

Later the Magistrate, who took into consideration the health and mental agonies of the wives and children of the two suspects, decided to grant them bail.

Perpetual Treasuries owner Arjun Aloysius and his CEO Kasun Palisena were arrested by the CID on February 4 of last year.
