New governors for five provinces were sworn in before President Maithripala Sirisena this afternoon.

Accordingly, Azad Salley was sworn in as the Western Provincial governor.

He succeeded former governor Hemakumara Nanayakkara.

Maithri Gunarathna was sworn in as the governor of the Central province.

He succeeded its former governor PB Dissanayake.

At the same time, former Chief Minister of the Central Province, Sarath Ekanayake was sworn in as the governor of the North Central Province.

Ekanayake succeeded former governor MP Jayasinghe.

The former chief minister of the North Central Province Peshala Jayarathna succeeded KC Logeshwaran who was the governor of the North Western Province.

In addition, MLAM Hizbullah was sworn in as governor of the Eastern province.

Hizbullah succeeded its former governor Rohitha Bogollagama.

National list MP Hizbullah told our news team that he resigned from his parliament seat before being sworn into the new position.

After his swearing in, Governor Hizbullah said that SLFP Youth Front president Shantha Bandara would be replace his parliament seat.
