COPE report on 17 government institutions submitted to parliament

The COPE report, with regard to the 3rd session of the 8th parliament was submitted to parliament this morning by the chairman MP Sunil Hadunnetti.

MP Hadunnetti noted that the report includes details regarding 17 government institutions where inquiries were carried out from July 1 – September 30th 2017.

Sri Lankan airlines and the paddy marketing board were amongst the 17 institutions.

Meanwhile MP M. A. Sumantiran was appointed as the government finance committee's new chairman, when the finance committee met for the first time today.

the constitution assembly met in parliament on wednesday afternoon with Speaker Karu Jayasooriya at the chair.

The Speaker's office said that the President's recommendations regarding the post of appeal court chairman Justice and another justice post were considered at the meeting.

However a final decision had not been arrived at.
