The workers Struggle Centre says that according to the new MoU  the estate wage was increased by just  Rs.10.

The organising secretary Duminda Naagamuwa confirmed that the centre was not in agreement.

The MoU was signed yesterday at Temple Trees under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The Estate Employers’ Union and the several Estate Combined Trade unions witnessed the signing.

According to the MoU,  estate workers’ basic daily wage  would be increased to Rs.700/=,

Rs.50 will be paid according to tea price and another  Rs. 40 for every additional kilogramme of tea leaves plucked.

In addition a consensus has been reached for two years,  to pay  the estate workers’ three- months arrears.

However, the Organising secretary Duminda Naagamuwa said that the wage had been increased by just Rs. 10,.
