Acting chairperson of the Court of Appeal Justice Deepali Wijesundera has withdrawn from the hearing of the petition that challenges the parliament seat held by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

When the Case was taken before the bench today, its chairperson, Justice Wijesundara withdrew herself citing she decided to do so on personal grounds.

Later, the hearing of the petition was adjourned for tomorrow.

A Colombo Municipal Councillor Shermila Gonawala has filed this petition against Premier Wickremesinghe alleging that the latter, as a private company shareholder, has collected dividends from particular private companies but has not declared his assets and liabilities to that regard.

The petitioner, claims that Premier Wickremesinghe has violated the Constitution accordingly and, therefore appeals to the Court to issue a Quo Warrantor Writ against the respondent.
