Our regional correspondent who was to cover a ceremony held under the patronage of former president, Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaranathunga in Aththanagalla – Gampaha, has been removed from the premises forcibly.

The ceremony was held yesterday evening at the SLFP Party Office in Aththanagalla to provide self employment tools to low-income families.

Journalists from Gampaha districts were advised to be present at the party office by 2 PM yesterday.

However, the journalists were kept waiting for one and a half hours due to a delay in commencing the proceedings.

However, a tense situation arose when an individual who identified himself as a security officer of the former president, attempted to remove our regional correspondent, Indika Thushara Abeysundara from the premises moments before the former president arrived at the venue.

Our correspondent lodged a complaint with Nittambuwa police this afternoon in this regard.
