General Secretary of Lanka Jathika Wathu Kamkaru Sangamaya, minister Wadiwail Suresh stated that he would officially withdraw from the estate workers collective agreement if it is unjustifiable towards estate workers.

Meanwhile, Tamil Progressive Alliance leader, Minister, Mano Ganeshan stated again today that his alliance will take a decision whether to remain in the government if the collective agreement remains active as it is.

Estate workers’ daily wage was increased to 700 rupees under the new collective agreement but workers complain that their wage is not increased in real terms.

Later, Tamil Progressive Alliance objected to the agreement and threatened to quit the government if it is implemented.

Meanwhile, stakeholders of the issue held a discussion with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday.
