Leader of the Opposition, Mahinda Rajapaksa stated that there was a breakdown of the bilateral relationship between India and Sri Lanka with the government change in India in 2014.

Addressing a conclave in Bangalore today, the leader of the opposition stated that the working relationship between the two states changed and that the lack of communication between both parties resulted in a misunderstanding.

The inaugural address at the conclave organized by The Hindu was delivered by the Leader of the Opposition, Mahinda Rajapaksa.

In his address, the opposition leader further pointed out that there was a similar breakdown of bilateral relations between the two countries in the 1980s.

Leader of the Opposition, Mahinda Rajapaksa reiterated that the LTTE’s terrorism affected both countries and that we should learn from our past mistakes and move forward.
