A committee led by the Leader of the House, Lakshman Kiriella has been appointed to probe the allegations made by State Minister Ranjan Ramanayake against his fellow MPs.

Ramanayake charged that there are Cabinet ministers and parliamentarians who use cocaine. The committee expects to submit its report to the next ruling MPs group meeting.

Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasiri informed the house today that State Minister Ramanayake has not handed over a list of cocaine using MPs to the Speaker as yet.

Meanwhile, MP Chandima Weerakkody said that several MPs have been summoned to the CID to record statements with regard to the recent clash in parliament.

At the same time, the company which maintains the elevators in parliament has recommended installing 10 new elevators at a cost of 100 million rupees. This recommendation has been made after the investigations conducted following several MPs were stranded inside one of the elevators recently.

Meanwhile, a political party leaders meeting held today decided to call the Attorney General and the chairman of the national election commission to the next meeting to discuss the provincial council polls.
