State Minister Ranjan Ramanayake appeared before the committee appointed to probe the alleged use of cocaine by several Cabinet ministers and MPs this morning.

The committee chaired by Minister Lakshman Kiriella recorded a statement from State Minister, Ranjan Ramanayake for nearly half an hour.

Later, State Minister Ranjan Ramanayake gave blood and a urine sample to a private hospital to test for narcotics use this afternoon.

The report was released in the afternoon and confirmed that Ramanayake has not used 11 drug varieties including cocaine during the period in question.

Meanwhile, the report by the committee to probe whether there are cocaine users in the Cabinet and parliament will be handed over to the Prime Minister today or this Monday.

Thereafter, the report is scheduled to be submitted to the UNP working committee when it meets this Wednesday.
