Bone and hair fragments believed to be that of the 2 businessmen of Rathgama who were abducted, assaulted and killed are to be sent for DNA Tests.

A Senior Spokesperson of the CID said that few more arrests are to be made in connection with the murders.

The victims, 31 year old Raseen Chinthaka and 33 year old Manjula Asela, are believed to have been killed in a house at Gonamulla in Akmeemana.

Later their bodies had been burnt inside the Pallekanda forest reserve in Medagamgoda.

IP Kapila Nishantha de Silva was the first to be arrested in connection with the incident and was remanded until the 27th.

A sub-inspector attached to the Southern Province Special Crime Investigation Unit was also arrested.

Information revealed during questioning led to the discovery of the murder site.

Meanwhile, the Walasmulla Magistrate, the Judicial Medical officer of the Matara Hospital and an officer from the Government Analyst’s Department inspected the murder site yesterday.

At the same time, senior DIG in charge of the Southern Province Special Crimes Investigation Unit, Ravi Wijegunawardhana was transferred to police headquarters following the incident.

Overall, 15 Officers of the Southern Province Special Crimes Investigation Unit have been transferred.
