The SP in charge of Matara, Gayantha Marapana has requested the IGP to transfer the existing 10 policemen of the Southern Provincial special Investigation Unit.

5 policemen of the unit were transferred to Kalutara and Panadura on February 15th after the abduction and murder of two businessmen of Rathgama.

Four out of the 15 have not reported to duty so far and, police said they would be arrested soon.

Police media spokesman, Ruwan Gunesekera said that the four officers will be considered as vacated their posts.

Accordingly, the Southern Provincial special Investigation Unit will be disbanded after the transfer of the existing 10 officers.

At the same time, body fragments discovered from the site where the two businessmen believed to have been burnt is scheduled to be sent to the Government Analyst for DNA testing.
