Three police teams have been deployed to launch investigations into the 6.4 million rupees theft , from the administration building of the Anuradhapura General Hospital.

A senior police officer in charge of Anuradhapura Division told our news team that absence of CCTV cameras, at the hospital premises have hindered the process.

On Saturday night, the suspects had set vital documents on fire, before fleeing the scene with the cash.

initial investigations revealed that the accountant leaves the cash-safety box key in a particular drawer before leaving the premises.

police believe that knowledge of this was communicated to the suspects to aid with the theft.

Police have so far obtained statements from the accountant and director of the hospital
