The escort is parading down Galle road towards Batapola from Aluthgama via Bentota, Kosgoda, Ahungalle, Balapitiya and Ambalangoda.

arrangements have been made at the PHA de Silva sports ground in Kahatapitiya, Batapola to welcome him home.

Mangala Denex of Batapola won hiru star which was  Sri Lanka’s 1st ever live reality singing show,  which marks a significant juncture,  where millions of sri Lankans were given an opportunity to make their dream become a reality.

The Grand Finale took place yesterday at Nelum Pokuna theatre as several renowned guests and stars arrived to witness the momentous occasion.

The Hiru star programme was initiated about a year ago marking a new milestone in reality tv by Hiru TV, which is dedicated to assure a novel experience to Sri Lankan viewers.

It is also noteworthy that contestants were selected for each progressive round via a live sms voting system, which is also a significant mark in the history of reality tv in sri lanka.

In order to ensure transparency, the voter’s image was also displayed in the giant digital screen bringing Sri Lankan viewers closer to the latest technology available.

The contestants were selected by judges and viewers’ votes under three catagories, up until the grand finale,

Those categories were the solo, duo and group categories.

the grand finalists who competed for what was the most valuable prize offered to a winner in Sri Lankan reality television history, were Mangala Denex from Batapola, Shammi Fernando from Wenappuwa, Amila Kavinda from Divulapitiya and Sujan Fernando from Negombo.

Shammi Fernando of Wennapuwa and Sujan Fernando of Negombo competed against each other at the first round of the grand finale, where Sujan Fernando of Negombo failed to qualify.

Amila Kavinda of Diwulapitiya and Mangala Denex of Batapola contested one another and Mangala Denex was selected to contest in the final challenge against Shammi Fernando.

Mangala Denex who was crowned as the Hiru Star, at the grand finale, was presented with a brand new Audi Car worth 6 million rupees, a cash prize of one million rupees and a recording contract worth 10 million rupees.
