The Police used Water and Tear Gas to disperse the protest march organized by the Inter-University Student’s Federation.   

This protest march which commenced from near the Aesthetic Arts University this afternoon was launched forcing the government to immediately abolish the Terrorism Prevention Act scheduled to be presented.

With the protestors entering the Parliament Road from the roundabout, Police took steps to attack them with Water and Tear Gas and disperse them.

As a result there is severe traffic congestion in Battaramulla and the roads in the vicinity.

The road to Parliament was closed as a result of the IUSF protest march

The road leading to the Parliament has been closed due to the protest march of the Inter-University Students’ Federation.

Our Hiru Correspondent said that the university students are passing Rajagiriya at this moment and walking towards Battaramulla.

Traffic congestion exists in and around Rajagiriya as a result of this.

The student began their protest march this evening from near the Aesthetic Arts University, Visual Arts Faculty forcing the government to immediately abolish the Terrorist Prevention Act that is scheduled to be brought.
