The Oil and Gas Ministry of Oman has denied being part of a 3.85 billion dollar plan to build an oil refinery in Sri Lanka.

Oman has responded to an announcement made by deputy minister Nalin Bandara during a media conference organized by the BOI in Colombo recently.

Nalin Bandara said that the Omani investment at Mirijjawila Export Zone could be the largest ever investment in the history of the BOI.

Reuters reported yesterday that undersecretary of Oman’s ministry of oil and gas Salim al-Aufi told the media in Muscat that no one on his side of the panel is aware of such investment in Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, UPFA MP Kanchana Wijesekera raised this matter in parliament today.

Non-Cabinet minister Dr Harsha de Silva and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe answered MP Wijesekera in this manner.
