Chief Moulavi of Davatagaha mosque Mohamed Iqbal said that police have informed of a possible attack by Thowheeth Jamath organization on the mosque therefore he decided to end the Friday prayers early tomorrow.

Quoting a senior Police officer, he said information have been received that the Thowheet Jamath organization has planned to launch an attack on Suphi aka Avulia mosque.

Meanwhile 29 moulavies of Polonnaruwa district met Polonnaruwa senior DIG AP Dhammikla Weerasinghe and handed over a letter.

The moulavies requested the police to ban the three Thowheet Jamath mosques in the district and other similar mosques throughout the island.

Meanwhile, police have launched an operation to arrest the moulavi who posted a video on social media justifying the recent terrorist attacks on two catholic churches and high-end hotels.

The suspect is a chief moulavi of a mosque in Settikulam in Vavuniya.

The suspect has already fled the area after the 8-minute video went viral.

In addition, another moulavi arrested from Hemmathagama in connection with a wanted motorcycle and a van seized from Anguruwella was produced before the Thulhiriya Magistrate Court today.

The court permitted police to detain and question the suspect for three days.

The suspect has told police that he is known to the father of the suicide bomber of Shangri la hotel, businessman Ibrahim.

Meanwhile, Muslim Affairs Minister M.H.M Haleem requested not to hold Friday Jumma prayers at mosques tomorrow.
