School Second term to commence today amidst special security

The second school term for students of grades 6 to 13 begin from today.

Similarly the security forces carried out a special security operation at schools island-wide and their surroundings.

However the second term for students of grades one to five begins on the 13th of May.

However, the Asgiri and Malwatta chapter Chief Incumbents yesterday requested the government to postpone the reopening of schools by several weeks till security was consolidated.

Meanwhile issuing a communiqué the government information department said that that the government had also implemented a special plan for ensuring the maximum security of school children.

Similarly military media spokesman Brigadier Sumith Atapattu said that the school security requirements had been assessed and steps had been taken to provide protection to all schools.
