Special High Court grants permission to former Defence Secretary to go abroad

Tuesday, 07 May 2019 - 15:16

The Special three-judge High Court granted permission to former Defence Secretary to go abroad from 15 to 19 of this month.

That was when the case regarding misappropriation of Rs. 33 million during construction of the D. A. Rajapaksa Memorial Museum at Medamulana was taken up for hearing in the presence of the three judges of the Special High court, Sampath Abeykone, Sampath Wijeratne and Champa Janaki Rajaratne.

The three-member panel of judges today rejected the fundamental rights objection submitted previously by the defence previously that the manner in which the facts, in this case, had been lined up and collated was at fault.

The Attorney General had filed this case at the Special High Court against the former Defence Secretary and six others.
