Uva Provincial Council Member of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna Samantha Vidyaratne alleges that the Chief Minister of the Uva Province Chamara Sampath Dassanayake and a group of local government institution representatives are scheduled to leave for a tour of Vietnam day after tomorrow.

He said that this tour is regarding a project on electric lamps in the local government institutions in the Uva Province.

The allegation is that the Chief Minister has obtained money for this trip from the Uva Provincial Council.

The Hiru News Division made an inquiry about this allegation from the Chief Minister of the Uva Province Chamara Sampath Dassanayake.

He said that he did not obtain any money for this trip from the Provincial Council. We also inquired regarding this tour from the General Secretary of the Uva Provincial Council P. B. Wijeratne.

He said that this was a private trip and that they had received approval from their personal leave quotas.

The General Secretary also said that they had requested money for the trip from the Provincial Council but approval had not been granted.
