Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives meets the Prime Minister and the Opposition Leader

A meeting was held yesterday between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives Islands Abdullah Shaheed and the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at Temple Trees.

On this occasion the Foreign Minister commended the steps taken by the Prime Minister to protect territorial integrity.

The Prime Minister’s office said that discussions were also held on further strengthening security cooperation between the two countries.

In the meantime, the Foreign Minister of the Maldives met the Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa at his official residence in Wijerama last evening and held discussions.

The Opposition Leader’s office said that on this occasion the Maldivian Foreign Minister expressed his regrets regarding the terrorist attacks that took place recently.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs had told the Opposition Leader that expedited steps will be taken to release four fishing vessels and fishermen who violated sea limits.
