Two individuals who entered the Udawalawe National Wildlife Park without permission, taken into custody

A suspect together with a firearm manufactured in this country was taken into custody by the Police Special Task Force during a raid near the Mauaara reservoir in the Udawalawe National Wildlife Park.

Investigations revealed that the suspect had entered the Wildlife Park without permission and engaged in hunting animals.

The suspect and the firearm were handed over to the Wildlife office of the Udawalawe National Wildlife Park for further investigations into the incident.

Meanwhile, the STF took into custody another suspect who had entered the Park unauthorized during a raid carried out in the Divithurugala area. It is said that an axe was found in the suspect’s possession.
