Permission sought from Court to obtain a blood sample from Zahran’s daughter for a DNA Test

The Court granted permission today (10) to the Criminal Investigation Department to obtain a sample of blood from the daughter of Zahran Hashim, the leader of the National Thowheeth Jama’ath organization who carried out the suicide bombing at the Shangri-La Hotel, for a DNA test.

DNA samples from the severed head found after the suicide blast suspected to be that of Zahran Hashim will be used for comparison in these tests.

Meanwhile, the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court, yesterday (09) granted permission to obtain a blood sample from Zahran’s sister who is in the Batticaloa prison at present to carry out a DNA test to identify Zahran Hashim.
