Two students of the Jaffna University who were remanded, released on bail

The President of the Jaffna University Students’ Council and its Secretary who were taken into custody for being in possession of illegal posters, banners and leaflets have been released on bail.

That was subsequent to being produced before the Jaffna Magistrate, Anthonysamy Peter Paul, today.

The Magistrate ordered that each of the students be released on surety bail of one hundred thousand rupees.

The Magistrate also asked the students to present themselves every Sunday at the Kopay Police Station.

These two students were taken into custody on the 3 of this month, when a search operation was carried out by the Police and the Army based on a request made by the administration of the Jaffna University.
