A proposal submitted with signatures of 217 attorneys requesting a special general meeting in order to discuss the current situation of the country, has been handed over to the secretary of the bar association of sri lanka, attorney at law, Kaushalya Nawaratne.

He noted that the letter is to be submitted before the executive committee meeting which is to be held on Monday.

Meanwhile, a special meeting has been called at the dissolved southern provincial council to discuss regarding the existing conditions in the country.

The chairman of the provincial council, Somawansha Kodagoda noted that the respective representatives of the provincial council from all political parties have been invited for the meeting scheduled on the 21st of May.

However the JVP former councillors who represented the southern provincial council have decided to refrain from attending the meeting.

The former provincial councillor Nalin Hewage noted that even though the chairman had invited him for the meeting on the 21st, as the objective of the meeting is unclear he would not be attending.
