Members of the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha attend sessions wearing black bands

Members representing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna of the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha arrived at the council sessions today wearing black bands.  

That was to express objection to the statement made by Minister Mangala Samaraweera and saying that all individuals connected to the Easter Sunday attacks should be taken into custody and that the government should quit.

Our Hiru Correspondent said that the members arrived in the assembly carrying plaques with slogans on them.

The power of the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha is with the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and they have 25 seats.

The United National Party has 10 seats while the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna has 3.
