Vesak celebrated islandwide giving prominence to spiritual programmes

Buddhists across the country celebrated Vesak, giving prominence to spiritual programmes.

Our correspondents however said that there was a slight decrease in the number of devotees arriving at temples this year.

However, a large crowd had arrived at the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy to engage in religious observances.

It was also noteworthy that Vesak lanterns had been put up in Dharga Town – Aluthgama, with the contribution of Muslims as well.
