754 arrested during excise raids in the Vesak period

During raids carried out by the excise department within the Vesak period, 754 individuals have been taken into custody for illegally being in possession of liquor and drugs.

This group was arrested in raids carried out on 17 and 18 as well as yesterday and liquor and drugs worth more than one million rupees have been taken into custody by the Excise Department.

Of these suspects 299 were arrested for manufacturing of illicit liquor and the charge of being in possession of the liquor.

264 among them were taken into custody for sale of liquor illegally.

At the same time, the Excise Department sealed a sales outlet in Naula where beer had been sold yesterday.
