4 government institutional heads have been called before the COPE convening this afternoon in parliament in order to inquire into the university in Batticaloe.

It has been reported that Secretaries of the ministry of education and skills development and vocational training as well as heads of the sri lanka investment board and the university grants commission have been summoned.

It has been reported that concerns would be drawn on ascertaining if the Batticaloe university is a vocational training center or a university.

Further, ascertaining as to who provided funding for the university and what courses have been taught is to be discussed during the meeting with COPE.

Meanwhile a party leaders meeting has been called at 11 am today under the patronage of the speaker.

During the meeting dates pertaining to the debate on the no confidence motion filed by the joint opposition against Minister Rishad Bathiudeen is to be discussed.

MP Bimal Ratnayake noted that the no confidence motion filed against the government by the JVP is also to be handed over to the speaker at 1 pm today upon the convening of the parliament.

Further a special UNP MP meeting is to be held at the parliamentary complex at 11.30 am today.

Party sources noted that the meeting is to focus on the action that needs to be taken with regard to the no confidence motion filed by the opposition against Minister Rishad Bathiudeen
