Special requiem masses were held today for the devotees who were killed by the suicide bombs last Easter Sunday a month ago.

Our correspondents stated that prayers were conducted in the name of the dead at St Sebastian church in Katuwapitiya, St Anthony church at Kochchikade and Zion church in Batticaloa.

Meanwhile, another special requiem mass has been organized under the patronage of Archbishop His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith at the All Saints church in Borella this Sunday.

It has been reported that attendance of students at schools has been normal today.

During an inquiry we made it was reported that students have come to school as usual in several main Colombo schools.

Meanwhile, our Correspondents said that attendance of students at schools on estates were also normal.

A special security programme was implemented today as well in and around all schools in the island by parents and security forces jointly.

In the meantime, Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa and members of the Opposition engaged in an observation tour of schools this morning to inquire into the security situation and to encourage school children.
